TV Writer's Top Binge Picks from Alex Jones – Must-Have Shows for Your Watchlist
Must-Watch TV Shows Recommended by Alex Jones
Alex Jones has always been passionate about sharing her favorite TV shows with her followers, and as a TV writer, I can completely understand why. There's something truly special about discovering a series that captivates you so much that you can't stop thinking about it. It becomes your mission to share it with others, hoping to find someone who can discuss it with you.
When Alex shared her latest list of binge-worthy shows, I had already seen and loved all of them. With our tastes aligning perfectly, I’m excited to introduce you to the shows that Alex thinks are absolutely brilliant and should be added to your watch list immediately.
1. Love Story
Available on Disney+, Love Story has sparked a lot of conversation in the CryptoLiveDaily office, and we couldn’t get enough of it. Based on the book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette by Elizabeth Beller, and inspired by real events, this nine-episode series is both sad and addictive.
It follows the whirlwind romance and high-profile marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. (played by Paul Anthony Kelly) and Carolyn Bessette (played by Sarah Pidgeon). Alex describes it as "really enjoyable" and "actually lovely to watch."
2. The Cage
If you're looking for a gripping thriller, The Cage is a definite must-watch. This five-part series on BBC iPlayer features powerful performances from Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha, who play Leanne and Matty, respectively.
Leanne is a single mother working as a casino cashier, while Matty is the casino manager struggling with addiction and debt. Both characters are stealing from the casino, and their paths cross in a way that leads to intense drama. As Alex says, "It's really good performances" from the pair, making it a perfect binge-watching experience.
3. Unchosen
Netflix’s Unchosen is a gripping series that reminded me of The Handmaid’s Tale. If you enjoy dystopian stories, you’ll love this cult-based drama. Based on the experiences of real cult survivors, the six-part show follows Rosie, an oppressed member of a group called The Fellowship of the Divine.
The cult believes they are the chosen ones who will survive a divine rapture, while non-cult members, or the Unchosen, will perish. When Rosie meets a stranger, her life takes a dramatic turn, leading her to question everything she’s been taught.
4. Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr
Another great show on BBC iPlayer, Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr features amateur interior designers competing in weekly challenges. With seven seasons available, it’s perfect for those who want easy, snackable viewing.
Alex calls it "absolutely brilliant," and she adds, "Like a pringle, once you pop, you cannot stop." It’s a fun and engaging show that’s hard to put down.

5. Mint
Mint is another standout show on BBC iPlayer. This eight-episode series blends romance and gangland crime, offering a unique mix of genres. For me, it feels like Romeo and Juliet meets MobLand.
Visually stunning and female-centric, Mint offers a fresh take on forbidden love, set against a backdrop of criminal behavior. It’s one of the best shows of the year so far.
6. The Other Bennet Sister
Last but not least, The Other Bennet Sister is a joy to watch. This 10-part series on BBC iPlayer reimagines Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice from the perspective of Mary Bennet.
Based on Janice Hadlow’s novel, the show gives a new look at what Mary’s life might have been like if she had more than just a secondary role. Witty, feminist, and brilliantly acted, Alex calls it "a good one for young girls to watch, because it proves that not everything should be based on looks."
If you’re looking for quality TV recommendations, these shows are definitely worth checking out. They offer a mix of drama, humor, and thought-provoking storytelling that will keep you engaged from start to finish.
