Swim Briefs & Fuzzy Bellies: 10 Obsessions This Week
A Week of Excitement for the LGBTQ+ Community
The past week has been nothing short of thrilling for the LGBTQ+ community. From major music releases to eye-catching fashion moments, there's been no shortage of content to keep everyone engaged and entertained. One of the most anticipated events was the announcement that Madonna is set to drop a new album, which has already sparked a lot of excitement among fans.
While many are still focused on the Queen of Pop and her latest project, "Confessions II," there have been several other noteworthy developments in the world of gay news. From viral fashion moments to celebrity gossip, there's plenty to unpack from the past seven days.
Fashion and Pop Culture Moments
One of the standout moments came when Matteo Lane shared a photo of himself wearing a speedo, which quickly went viral on social media. His bold choice not only showcased his confidence but also highlighted the growing trend of body positivity within the LGBTQ+ community. Fans were quick to praise his style, with many commenting on how he effortlessly combines fashion and self-expression.
Another highlight was the release of "Obsession," a new project that has captivated audiences with its unique blend of artistry and storytelling. The project has been praised for its innovative approach and has already generated a lot of buzz among fans and critics alike.
Celebrity Gossip and Rivalries
In the world of celebrity gossip, Margaret Cho made headlines with her recent comments about a "Heated Rivalry." While the details of the rivalry remain unclear, her candidness has sparked a lot of discussion among fans and media outlets. Her ability to navigate sensitive topics with humor and grace has once again solidified her status as a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
These moments have not only provided entertainment but have also served as a reminder of the importance of representation and visibility in the media. As more LGBTQ+ individuals step into the spotlight, they continue to challenge stereotypes and inspire others.

Plus, a new headless horseman hit the grid, Sam Asghari did a PrEP ad, and we remembered Jason Collins.
Aside from that, we’ve been binging, buying, and on fuzzy belly watch.
Behold, the 10 things we’re obsessed with this week…
1. The gayest graphic tees you’ll find at the mall
To quote the hellacious and tanned-up gym bros of Jersey Shore, “It’s t-shirt time!” Sorry, was that too hetero?
Summer is nipping at our heels, so now’s the perfect time to give your graphic tee drawer a refresh. Thankfully, Aeropostale has a sizable collection of shirts that scream, “Gay man ready to attend a drag show at 9 pm on a Tuesday in 90-degree weather.” My personal faves are The Devil Wears Prada Tee, the Lady Gaga Mayhem Tee ($20), and the queer-coded Strawberry Shortcake Howdy Darlin’ Tee, available for $20 each.
2. Reisfields NYC Candles
This Brooklyn-founded, Black, and queer-owned candle company specializes in pieces combining architecture, nature, and modern luxury, with a lil’ gay twist. So obviously, each one of their hand-poured, small batch, soy candles, available on LGBTQ Outpost, are decadent-smelling works of art.
I recommend the seasonally apt Bloom No. 7, a sensory ode to florals and feeling at home, and Bone No. 2, inspired by Marie-Antoinette’s gardens, the Eiffel Tower, and falling in love in Paris. And you can snag either for $70 online.
3. “Let’s Have a KiKi” by VNSSA, Trixie Mattel & Luschious Massacr
As far as gay anthems go, the Scissor Sisters’ “Let’s Have a Kiki” is dang near untouchable, but the only queen I would trust with updating a classic is Dragvestigations icon Luschious Massacr. In a new remix by VNSSA and Trixie Mattel, the Queerties winner takes an Uber to the club, looks for trade, and most importantly, attempts to block the “bricks” and “creatures” from entering the party. (“They look awful,” she quips. LOL.)
For the entire runtime of its ridiculously camp green screen video, I’ve never been prouder to be gay.
4. “Montecito” from Hacks Season 5
Last week’s Hacks might be the gayest episode in its history — which is saying something. No major spoilers on Season 5 of Deborah Vance, Ava Daniels, and their occasionally toxic, but ultimately iconic relationship, but “Montecito” gives the LGBTQ+ community everything we dreamed of and more.
Sorry, Black Mirror, but this is MY “San Junipero” now. Bonus: There’s some absolutely phenomenal character work from guest stars Cherry Jones and Leslie Bibb.

Hannah Einbinder on Hacks‘ gayest episode ever, kissing Jean Smart & why Jesse McCartney’s a “bi-girl icon”
*Caution: Spoilers ahead for Hacks Season 5, Episode 7, “Montecito.”* As much as a certain subsect of fans would like it to be, Hacks has never been a show about a romantic relationship between legendary comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her plucky, young writer-for-hire Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). But what if, for one night—for […]
5. Stop! That! Train! Trainwreck Hat
Stop! That! Train!, the highly-anticipated RuPaul’s Drag Race movie hitting theaters in June, hasn’t even been released, but I’m already preparing to make it my personality for the entirety of Pride Month. And thanks to the merch-privy gay geniuses at World of Wonder, I can already get a head start with this eye-catching “Train Wreck” dad hat, $34 online.
Consider its embroidered message a warning to every Fire Island bartender I saunter up to with an empty spiked seltzer can this summer.
6. John of John by Douglas Stuart
Booker Prize-winning gay novelist Douglas Stuart is back with John of John, $24.36 on Amazon, a can’t-put-down tale of an artsy queer son who returns to his pastor father’s side in his hillside hometown, only to find that the two may have more in common than he initially realized. Oop!
And considering it’s this month’s Oprah’s Book Club pick, I’d start reading now. You don’t want to get spoilers from all your great aunt’s friends!
7. Cirie from Survivor being a gay icon
This clip of Cirie Fields, a five-time competitor, fan favorite, and arguably the best player to never win Survivor, is so adorable, it almost makes up for the emotional abuse longtime fans of the reality show had to endure this week. IYKYK.
As she told a raucous group of fans at a Brooklyn drag show, “I love the queer, gay, LGBTQ+ community.” And we love her and the couch she got off, too. Again, IYKYK.
8. Sniffies’ Summer Swim collection
It’s going to be a summer of heatwaves and hookups, if Sniffies has anything to say about it. The cruise-friendly gay app just dropped its summer swim collection, and it’s as hot and bothered as you’d expect: a Sniffies Core Swim Brief (available in multiple colors for $44), Cargo Swim Shorts ($68), and a flex-ready Cruising Club Crop Muscle Tank ($46).
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a totally NotSafeForWork towel that will make even your filthiest friends blush. What happens on the beach stays on the beach.
9. Fuzzy bellies
If this clip, which dominated the discourse on Gay Twitter X this week, taught me anything, it’s that Eric Williams’ That’s a Gay A** Podcast really is, well, a gay azz podcast. And from one journalist to another, I salute him for his work.
10. A pickle smoothie, no really
Smoothie King is partnering with the Boston-based professionals at Grillo’s for a limited-edition pickle smoothie — yes, you read that correctly — which promises “a refreshingly tangy taste … packed with electrolytes.”
Is it bad that I ABSOLUTELY have to try this?!
