Redwood and Tulare Western Secure Road Playoff Victories
The 2025-26 Central Section high school sports season is in full swing, with teams across the region competing for playoff advancement and league titles. Coaches are encouraged to submit game results and statistics after each match to ensure players are highlighted in local sports roundups. Team records as of May 15 are included here for reference.

Redwood 7, Clovis 1:
The 11th-ranked Redwood Rangers made a strong statement by upsetting the sixth-seeded Clovis Cougars in their Central Section Division I road playoff opener. The Rangers, who recently secured their fifth consecutive league championship, will host No. 14 Centennial on May 19 at Aaron Hill Field for a quarterfinal showdown.
Tulare Western 9, San Luis Obispo 2:
The Tulare Western Mustangs, co-champions of the West Yosemite League, opened their Central Section Division II playoffs with a first-round road win against the No. 7 San Luis Obispo Tigers. The team will face No. 10 Tulare Western against 15th-ranked Hanford on May 19 at Taylor Field in Tulare.

Redwood 10, Paso Robles 0:
The No. 3 Redwood Rangers dominated the No. 14 Paso Robles Bearcats in a mercy rule victory that ended in six innings. Emily Webster led the charge with a home run, two hits, four RBIs, and a run. Jackie Ramirez added two RBIs, while Kenzie Cantu, Kyrie Rodriguez, Aubrie Jenkins, and Jaden Lopez each contributed an RBI. Ramirez also pitched a complete game, striking out 12 batters and allowing just two hits.

Baseball
Dinuba 11, Mission Oak 10:
In a thrilling finish, the Dinuba Emperors edged out the Mission Oak Hawks in both teams’ West Yosemite League finale. Ethyn Lizaola was instrumental, going 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. He also earned the win on the mound with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Daniel Aranzazu contributed with a two-run double, while Ayden Montelongo, Deangelo Correa, and Boysie Campo each had an RBI.
Mission Oak’s Eddie Bravo had a memorable performance, hitting three times with one home run and five RBIs, along with two runs scored.
May 9
Swim and Dive
Central Section Division I Championships:
Caiden LaPoint, a junior from Tulare Union, made a significant impact at the section championships held at Clovis West. LaPoint placed seventh in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.10 seconds and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.48 seconds. Both times set new school records for his respective events.
May 8
Track and Field
East Yosemite League Championships:
Redwood dominated the East Yosemite League Championships at Rankin Stadium in Porterville, winning both the boys and girls team championships. The boys team scored 214.5 points, with standout performances from Troy Harris (400 meters), Wyatt Ruby (110-meter hurdles), Luke Sanchez (300-meter hurdles), Landon Everett (high jump), and Austin Alcantara (long jump, triple jump).
On the girls' side, Redwood took first place with 169 points, thanks to individual victories from Tori Ochoa (100 meters), Graycie Serpa (200 and 400 meters), Jordan Powell (shot put), Haven Rawson (high jump), Mia LoBue (pole vault), and Brynne Amundson (triple jump).
