Eric Trump Sues Jen Psaki Over China Claims and Misreporting
Eric Trump Announces Legal Action Against Jen Psaki and MSNBC
Eric Trump, the son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, has announced plans to file a lawsuit against MSNBC host Jen Psaki over what he describes as "reckless and dishonest reporting" that has damaged his reputation. The legal action is set to begin on Monday, May 18, according to a statement released on Saturday, May 16.
Trump claims that the network made false allegations regarding his business ties to China. He criticized both Psaki and MSNBC for what he called a failure in journalistic responsibility. According to Trump, a simple review of financial records would have shown that the claims were entirely incorrect.

Accusations of False Reporting
In a statement, Trump emphasized that the reporting was not only false but also harmful. He said, "Jen Psaki is a terrible reporter and MSNOW News should hold her accountable. A 30-second review of basic financial disclosures, literally her most fundamental duty as a journalist, would have shown I have zero leadership or decision-making in the company she claimed I was 'on the board of' the basis for which she claimed I was in China."
Trump denied any involvement in the business deal that was discussed during the broadcast. He stated, "As I previously stated, I have NO knowledge whatsoever of the transaction she referenced, the people involved or a single detail - as I’m not, in any way, involved." He added that the broadcast was a major failure by the network and that he is prepared to take legal action.
"This isn’t journalism, it’s reckless and dishonest reporting that damages people, reputation and lives. Formal notice is going out Monday with a lawsuit to follow..."

Background of the Controversy
The legal action comes after Eric Trump first addressed the issue on May 15. He had previously indicated that he would sue MS NOW, formerly known as MSNBC, and host Jen Psaki. This followed Psaki's comments during her show, where she questioned whether Eric's business ties created a conflict of interest during his trip to China with his father.
Psaki focused on the fact that Eric does not hold a government position and is expected to avoid official government business since he manages the Trump family empire. During her program "The Briefing," she discussed a report from the Financial Times about ALT5 Sigma, a fintech company based in Las Vegas where Eric once served as a board observer.
She highlighted the potential deal between ALT5 Sigma and a Chinese computer chip manufacturer to build AI data centers and other AI-related projects tied to the Chinese government. Psaki suggested that Eric's presence in China could be more than just a personal visit, stating, "Guess where Trump’s adult son Eric is right now? Well, he’s with his father in China," and adding, "It certainly seems like Eric might be getting a little more than just quality time with his dad out of this China trip."

Denials and Personal Reasons for the Trip
Eric Trump responded quickly on social media platform X, denying the claims and stating that he was never on the company's board. "I intend to sue @jrpsaki and @MSNOWNews over the below clip," he wrote, adding, "To be clear: Contrary to her monolog and blatant lies, I have NEVER been on the board of ALT5, not now, not ever."
He also denied being involved in any merger discussions, saying, "I have had zero involvement in any merger discussions involving any public entity I do not run or control." Trump strongly denied having any financial links to China at all. "I have zero business interests in China. No properties, no investments, nothing!" he said.
He explained that his presence on the trip was strictly personal rather than business-related. "I joined this trip for one reason: as a loving son who adores my father and wouldn’t miss being by his side for this incredible moment." He noted that he and Lara Trump simply visited the Great Wall while the official government meetings were taking place.
