Alison Victoria Says HGTV Fired Her for Calling "Battle on the Beach" 'Canceled'

A Former Co-Host's Perspective on the Revival of Battle on the Beach

Alison Victoria, a former co-host of Battle on the Beach, recently shared her thoughts on why she was not invited back for the show’s revival. The designer and television personality claims that her use of the word “canceled” instead of “not renewed” might have played a role in her exclusion from the new season.

Understanding the Miscommunication

Victoria explained that during a conversation on her podcast Pap Smear, she mentioned that Battle on the Beach had been “canceled” after four seasons. She later realized that this was an inaccurate statement, as the show was actually not renewed for a fifth season.

“I should’ve said ‘not renewed.’ That's the language that I should have used,” she admitted in a recent interview with the Daily Mail.

She emphasized that her podcast is a candid, unscripted conversation, and she didn’t have notes to guide her. However, she acknowledged that using the wrong terminology could have caused confusion.

Learning About the Revival

Victoria learned about the show’s revival through her former co-host and close friend, Taniya Nayak. According to Victoria, Nayak informed her that Battle on the Beach would be returning with Ty Pennington, but without her and Nayak.

“I looked at her and I just said, ‘I expected that,’” Victoria recalled.

She expressed that while she loved working on the show and enjoyed the experience, it was time for the series to move forward with new co-hosts.

“Now it's time to pass the torch and see what they've got. So only time will tell, and you know, the ratings will be the feedback, and I hope that the ratings are amazing.”

Balancing Her Current Projects

In addition to her previous work on Battle on the Beach, Victoria is currently hosting Sin City Rehab and working on two other projects: Scariest House in America and Ugliest House in America, both hosted by Retta.

She suggested that her busy schedule might have contributed to her not being invited back to the show.

“I'm working very hard on my show, so even let's say I did get asked to be back — which I did not, but let's say I did — I wouldn't have been able to do it because there was no way to juggle it.”

She added that part of her hopes that the network didn’t ask her back because they knew she didn’t have the time.

Looking Ahead

Despite not being part of the new season, Victoria remains positive about the future of Battle on the Beach. She believes that the show has a strong chance of success with its new cast and format.

As the series prepares to return, fans are eager to see how the new co-hosts will shape the show. For now, Victoria continues to focus on her current projects and enjoys the journey of her career.

Her story highlights the importance of clear communication in the entertainment industry and serves as a reminder of how even small missteps can have significant consequences.
